The National Agroecology Conference will be held on 5 November 2026 at the Ministry of Agriculture Conference Center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, under the theme “Agroecology for Environmental Health, Sustainable Food Systems and Climate Resilience.”
The conference will bring together farmer and pastoralist communities, civil society organizations, government institutions, researchers, development partners and other stakeholders to celebrate achievements, showcase innovations, exchange knowledge and strengthen collective action to advance agroecology in Ethiopia.

Organized through the collective efforts of the Promoters of Agroecology group and partner civil society organizations, in collaboration with relevant government institutions and other stakeholders, the conference builds on previous national seed and food fairs held in Addis Ababa and Hawassa. It will provide a platform to share practical experiences, highlight community-led innovations and strengthen collaboration among organizations and communities promoting agroecological practices across the country.
The publication of Ethiopia’s National Agroecology Strategy by the Ministry of Agriculture marks a significant milestone in creating an enabling environment for scaling agroecology. Building on this progress, the conference will offer an opportunity to strengthen partnerships among government, civil society, research and academic institutions, farmer organizations and development partners to advance the strategy’s implementation and encourage wider adoption of agroecological practices.
By celebrating achievements and fostering collaboration, the conference aims to contribute to healthier environments, more sustainable food systems and greater climate resilience across Ethiopia.
