From Knowledge to Action – Our Thematic Areas of Work

ESFSAC grounds its work in four key thematic areas: Research for Development, Knowledge Management, Advocacy and Networking, and Youth and Women Empowerment. Each of these pillars is essential to achieving food systems transformation. Research for Development helps generate evidence-based agroecological solutions, while Knowledge Management ensures that traditional and scientific insights are documented, shared, and used in decision-making.

The Consortium works tirelessly to bridge the gap between knowledge and policy. Through Advocacy and Networking, it influences public discourse, engages with government stakeholders, and connects grassroots actors across regions. It supports multi-stakeholder dialogues, food and seed fairs, and strategic campaigns that uplift agroecology as both a practical and political pathway.

Youth and Women Empowerment is another cornerstone of ESFSAC’s strategy. Recognising that young people and women are central to the sustainability of food systems, the Consortium provides platforms for leadership, entrepreneurship, and innovation. By investing in their voices and skills, ESFSAC is nurturing a new generation of food system changemakers grounded in agroecological values.
